RENNER pumps and filters for the chemical industry

Chemical producers around the world frequently process aggressive acids and bases, which are not only toxic but are often also highly flammable or explosive. This requires the use of specially designed pumps and filters, which have to meet the most stringent requirements in terms of the load bearing capacity and durability of their materials.

RENNER pumps satisfy these requirements perfectly and are totally reliable for use in almost all industrial chemical processes. They also guarantee maximum process reliability for transporting the chemicals.

Renner pumps – Applications

The chemical industry is a sector that manufactures important materials for numerous other sectors. Chemical products are primarily required in the plastics, food and automotive industries, as well as in machine manufacture, and the glass and construction materials industry.

Standard RENNER pumps are used in the following processes:

  • Transportation of chemicals between different tanks
  • Emptying of tankers
  • Manufacture of fertilizers and pesticides
  • Operation of exhaust air scrubbers
  • Waste water treatment

RENNER pump systems – Overview

As well as supplying a wide range of pumps for these processes, RENNER also offers other components for contact with products – to create the perfect solution for dosing, circulation or simple transfer tasks. Different RENNER pump types are used according to the relevant chemical process or application – most frequently magnetic centrifugal pumps, followed by centrifugal immersion pumps. The choice of a particular pump system is based on customer-specific requirements and applications.

RENNER pumps are perfect for stationary use, but can also be used effectively in mobile applications. These include:

  • Mobile magnetic centrifugal pumps with dry running protection for tanker emptying
  • Mobile filter stations (e.g. REN-ADSORB)

RT centrifugal immersion pumps from RENNER are the ideal choice where chemical tanks cannot be drilled at the sides for safety reasons and the pump has to be immersed directly from above.

Our product range includes centrifugal immersion pumps suitable for both very low (< 30 l/min) and very high flow rates (> 1,000 l/min).

In addition, we also supply ideal products for high tanks that require a corresponding immersion length:

  • RT: Up to 500 mm without intermediate bearings and therefore protected against dry running
  • RTZ: 550 mm to 2,000 mm with chemical-resistant, medium lubricated intermediate bearing

If there is a lack of space in a tank, our pump types are also available for vertical installation on the outside of the tank (RT-A).

RENNER centrifugal immersion pumps are outstandingly well suited for conveying and circulating aggressive, toxic, or abrasive materials.

Magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps (RM) from RENNER are the first choice for transporting all kinds of chemicals safely between different production and manufacturing locations. Our magnetic centrifugal pumps have a hermetically sealed design and are completely leak free. These properties make them ideal for conveying aggressive liquids.

Pumps for tanker emptying have to be specially designed to achieve a high throughput in the shortest possible time. Above all, this requires a large connection diameter. When choosing the right pump, the following points also need to be considered: What medium to be conveyed is involved? What is the prevailing situation on site? Which chemicals need to be pumped? What type of power connection is available on site? Will the pump be operated only by trained personnel? All of these factors and circumstances, which can differ in individual cases, influence the choice of the ideal pump.

RENNER supplies hermetically sealed, magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps with dry running protection for all tanker emptying processes. Air pockets, which frequently cause problems with conventional magnetic pumps, are simply conveyed by our pumps with no interruption. Complete dry running is also no problem with the RM-TS pump series.

The right material for every requirement

Depending on the actual chemical or thermal requirements, our pump components are made of a range of different materials specifically chosen to meet the relevant demands. This guarantees consistently high performance and a long service life.

RENNER centrifugal immersion pumps are also fitted with a magnetic coupling specifically for conveying chemicals sensitive to oxygen. This makes them hermetically sealed and prevents unwanted oxygen entry into the conveyed medium. Like the centrifugal immersion pump with open shaft passage, the sealless, gas tight version (RTM) is immersed in the relevant tank vertically from above.

RENNER filters are widely used to maintain the purity of the chemicals in chemical production processes. Especially in this area, is essential to prevent contamination of the chemicals. RENNER filters deliver outstanding long-term performance in all of the process technologies and individual steps. This also includes any necessary secondary processes, such as waste water and exhaust air treatment.

The RENNER electronic process monitoring system –RPR Control – protects not only pumps but all chemical wet processes. The RPR Control issues warnings relating to clogged filters, a risk of dry and hot running, overloads and generally in critical situations, and reliably shuts down the pump before any damage can occur. The control module also checks adherence to the set flow rate. This prevents time-consuming and costly equipment failures.

RENNER supplies an extensive range of filters for industrial solid-liquid separation processes. The main products available are filter cartridges, bags and paper, as well as adsorption media, such as “spaghetti” filters, “angel’s hair”, or active carbon.
RENNER’s range includes the right consumables for all filter housings.
