Water treatment

RENNER pumps and filters for water treatment

For all electroplating and chemical processes, special chemical resistant pumps and filters are required, not only for the processes themselves, but also for the post-treatment of the process chemicals that is always necessary. The exhaust air is also subject to strict regulations and cleaning is mandatory. The same applies to the waste water, which can be contaminated in different ways depending on the industrial sector and production process. As a result, the use of pumps and filters is required along the entire process chain.

For all of these requirements, RENNER supplies high performance pumps and filters with appropriate treatment methods, guaranteeing economical and efficient cleaning of the waste water in accordance with the required discharge parameters.

Renner pumps – Applications

Important industrial sectors that require these treatments include the plastics, food, automotive, electronics and glass industry, as well as machine manufacture and sewage plants.

RENNER pumps are used as standard in the following methods:

  • Exhaust air scrubbers
  • Industrial water / waste water treatment
  • Municipal water / waste water treatment
  • Drinking water treatment
  • Decalcification of pipes
  • Industrial part cleaning
  • Cleaning of pipes in breweries
  • Cleaning of pipes in dairies
  • Precious metal recovery
  • Bacteria inhibition in electroplating baths

RENNER pump systems – Overview

Whether they are used for municipal or industrial waste water, the RT and RTZ series centrifugal immersion pumps are specially designed to meet the requirements for conveying waste water. And they are not the only ones – the RM series of magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps are also ideally suited for this application.

Supplementing a wide product range with specially coordinated impellers and energy-efficient motors, RENNER offers numerous installation options and a large choice of materials. The choice of a particular pump system is based on customer-specific requirements and applications.

As well as stationary use, RENNER pumps are also hugely effective in mobile applications. These include:

  • Precious metal recovery
  • Mobile decalcification units
  • Waste water treatment on ships

Our centrifugal immersion pumps are primarily used where dirt particles in waste water cannot be avoided. Because of their construction (RT series without medium lubricated intermediate bearings) with special impeller geometries they also provide a non-sensitive solution.

If there is a lack of space inside the tank, these pumps are also available for vertical installation on the outside of the tank (RT-A).
RENNER centrifugal immersion pumps are outstandingly well suited for conveying and circulating aggressive, toxic or abrasive materials with low to medium dirt content.

Depending on the actual chemical or thermal requirements, our pump components are made of different materials chosen to meet the relevant demands. This guarantees consistently high operational reliability and also a long service life.

RM magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps are the first choice for transporting chemicals safely from A to B. RENNER magnetic centrifugal pumps have a hermetically sealed design and are completely leak free. These properties make them ideal for conveying aggressive liquids.

They are normally installed outside an immersion tank or medium and integrated into the overall system with corresponding piping, for example on safety grounds, due to space considerations, or for design reasons. However, it is important to note that dirt particles can clog the friction bearing gap that is found in magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps due to the design. Therefore, RT series centrifugal immersion pumps should be used in such cases.

In water treatment and exhaust air purification, RENNER filters should be used to filter out the dirt particles that are produced in electroplating and chemical processes. They separate the solid and liquid components right at the beginning, thus improving not only the quality of the waste water but also reliably protecting the pumps from excessive soiling.

RPR Control, the electronic process monitoring system from RENNER, protects both the pumps and the chemical wet process itself. It issues warnings relating to clogged filters, a risk of dry and hot running, overloads and in critical situations, and reliably shuts down the pumps before any damage can occur. At the same time, the control module checks adherence to the set flow rate. This prevents time-consuming and costly failures.

RENNER supplies an extensive range of filters for industrial solid-liquid separation. The main products available are filter cartridges, bags and paper, as well as adsorption media, such as “spaghetti” filters, “angel’s hair”, or active carbon.
RENNER supplies the required consumables for all filter housings.
